THE VINTAGE FLEURIE

Already known at the 10th century under the influence of the Monastery of "CLUNY" founded about 1900, "FLORACIUM" was going to give birth to the one of great "crus" of Beaujolais, the FLEURIE, and, then to become a famous vineyard.

One often regards it as the more female" of the Beaujolais "crus". Perhaps must it be thanks to the "Madone de Fleurie" who, perched at the top of her hill, takes care on the vines.

This vineyard has been classified AOC by the decret of September 11th, 1936. On a surface of 800 ha, the production is on average of 44 000 hectoliters, namely the equivalent of 5 850 000 bottles.

Elegant and velvety with a beautiful dyed carmine "robe", the freshness and the smoothness of its perfumes, its fruity and floral flavours (red irises, violet, cassis and red fruits) offer a nose to the emanations evocator of spring landscapes.

Able to age 3 to 4 years, it can keep qualities that make the honnor of a large cellar.

The cru "Fleurie" must be served just a little confined : 14° to 16°.

It admirably accompanies the "pavé charolais" with beaujolais sauce, poultries, white meats and, especially, the famous "andouillette of "Fleurie".

DOMAINE COLONGE & FILS

Located at the foot of the village of "Fleurie" and under the high supervision of "La Madone", this splendid domain manages its vineyard since its creation in the sixties

This cru "Fleurie" exploitation of 7 ha, established on South/South East slopes, currently produces 400 hectoliters. An impassioned man, Serge Colonge, devotes himself to the rise of the Domain and the maturing of this high-class wine.

Only one vinification at the present time : semi-carbonic maceration in thermoregulation associated to a fermentation in whole bunches. The average maceration period is 10 days. It makes it possible to acquire the tannic structure necessary to its ageing. The bottling is only made after Easter for a worth-keeping period of 5 to 6 years.

Its soil results from old grounds of hercynian cumpling exclusively made of granites with large crystals.

A same species of grape : the white-juiced black gamay.

"It is in its youth that a cru Fleurie is the most tempting"
